In 2019 Friends of the Columbia Gorge began partnering with the Maryhill Museum of Art in Goldendale, Washington, in an effort to further the two organizations' public education and community engagement efforts. The initial result was a new award given by Friends at Pacific Northwest Plein Air in the Columbia River Gorge, the annual "paint-out" and exhibit hosted by Maryhill.
